Great resource for new VCP5-DCV candidates as well as those looking to upgrade!

I recently finished reading the book, VMware Certified Professional — Data Center Virtualization on vSphere 5.5 Study Guide (by Brian Atkinson), and would like to share my thoughts on it.
I had previously read the vSphere 5.0 version of this book when I was preparing for my VCP5 upgrade back in 2012. I am happy to say that the current 5.5 version has been updated nicely! All of the new 5.5 features are included — single sign-on (SSO), updated configuration maximums, vSphere web client, etc. The only new technology that is not touched upon is VSAN; however, VSAN is not included on the VCP5-DCV exam blueprint (and probably was not GA when the book was written).
The book offers full coverage of all exam objectives, following the exam blueprint using a well organized and calculated approach. It is concise and straight to the point. Using this book alone, you will be exposed to all of the information you will need to pass the VCP5-DCV exam. Keep in mind though, that NO book can guarantee you to pass the exam without actually applying the techniques in real life and working with VMware technology on a daily basis. The real-world scenarios included help you relate the topics at hand to situations you may have encountered in real life.
The book is divided into chapters, with review questions at the end of each chapter. I especially like the exercises that are found throughout the entire book. They are easy to understand, are well explained, and have a better flow that the 5.0 version of this book presented. As a reader, you can easily go through them step-by-step in a lab environment. I cannot stress enough how important it is to complement the book with hands-on experience. If you do not have access to a real lab environment, create yourself a nested ESXi lab! A simple Google search will get you going there…
There are also some online resources provided with the book through Sybex’s web site. I have not personally used these resources, but they include an assessment test, chapter review questions, two VCP5-DCV practice exams, electronic flashcards, and a searchable glossary.
I *highly* recommend this book for individuals looking to obtain their VCP5-DCV certification for the first time, as well as folks who are looking to upgrade before their current certifications expire.
